I am posting this notice to inform Buffalonians of an exhibition being held at the Buffalo and Erie County Central Library beginning September 14, 2005 and running through January of 2006. The Library and Library Foundation have been hard at work designing an exhibition for an extremely rare map created in 1815 by William Smith that charts the strata of England and parts of Scotland. This artifact is astonishingly one of only forty existing original maps in the world. In addition to owning this map, the Buffalo Library has within its rare book collection the corresponding, hand-drawn plates that chart various fossils unearthed within the strata levels. The map's creator William Smith has been immortalized in a compelling book about his life saga by best-selling author Simon…

Well, here we are in week 2 and in my opinion, the first real test for the Bills and JP Losman. JP passed his first test with flying colors on opening day and now it is time to hit the road where Tampa's crowd and more importantly their Defense will not be quite as hospitable. With both teams creating 5 turnovers of their own last week, something's gotta give. A very important match-up will be the Bills' left tackle Mike Gandy VS Pro Bowl linebacker Simeon Rice. If Gandy can take care of this pass rushing force, it would really go a long way as to allowing the Bills offense to move the ball.

As far as the offense goes for both teams, I think you have to give the edge to Buffalo. I am not necessarily saying that Buffalo has the better

The classes offered at Delish! are designed to teach as well as inspire you to create exciting new dishes. Their chefs teach the simplest ways to prepare well-known favorites while introducing classes to new techniques and ingredients in order to make something spectacular out of what was just an old favorite.

Delish! is an amusing and relaxed setting for learning the skills of cooking and baking taught by talented chefs from a wide variety of culinary backgrounds. Delish! supplies all the ingredients and serves up wine to sip while classes listen and learn. Whatis the best part? Sampling the dishes that are served up during the classes.

This restaurant is not on any of the main drags, it won't serve up ordinary everyday food, and it doesn't seat a lot of people. These are just a few of the reasons that make the new Coda a 'must go to' restaurant in the city. Remember the oil and canvas painting called Nighthawks created by Edward Hopper (Thanks MQ) in 1942? Nighthawks was actually inspired by a real diner in Hopper's NY neighborhood. Well, take that scene and throw in (Buffalo's own) Charles Burchfield's Rainy Night painting and I think you might capture a hint of Coda's soulful ambiance.

The Coda blends quiet sophistication with a contemporary cullinary flare that one might find while dining at one of Manhattan's hidden haunts. When you step into The Coda, you are stepping back into a world of hand-dyed black chef jac…

The Kleinhans Community Association (KCA) was recently awarded an important grant of $4,080 from the City of Buffalo to make improvements to the intersection of Pennsylvania Street at Plymouth Avenue.

The Pennsylvania/Plymouth Four Corner Improvement Project (which has already begun) is designed to improve the safety and aesthetic value of the four corners. The site, one block away from Kleinhans Music Hall, is one of eleven corners targeted by the City of Buffalo, all of which can be found in livable community neighborhoods. It has been estimated that nearly 350,000 patrons visit the Klenhans neighborhood annually, and many visitors tend to park in this area when seeing a BPO performance. While the neighborhood immediately surrounding…

Dear River Friends,

This week we are officially launching our new name as the Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper. For nearly twenty years, the Friends of the Buffalo Niagara Rivers has played a pivotal role in improving access to our waterfront, ensuring clean water for our future, encouraging public education and ownership of the rivers and securing hundreds of millions of dollars in funding to protect our waterfront.

This summer, we officially joined the Waterkeeper Alliance as the Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper. The Alliance is an association of local organizations, like the Friends, working to preserve and protect the nation's waters. The Alliance just received the Sierra Club's 2005 National William O. Douglas Award, which recognizes superlative use of the legal/judicial process to achieve …
