Okay, so you might have seen our ad in the new issue of Buffalo Rising Magazine and wonder what is going on? Why is there a guy on a bike in the air over Potomac Avenue with Frosty the Snowman holding a sign that has the X-Games crossed out and X-Mas written below? The best way to describe it is that it is funny. Seriously, why would Frosty be out in August?

The whole Potomac Street jump came about as a whim and Frosty showed up at the last minute to make fun of the X-Games, but he quickly headed to colder climates after the shoot. The idea came about on a Friday afternoon because Colleen at Buffalo Rising was looking for our ad and we were out of ideas. We had to do something that people can relate to, something they see everyday and is easily u…

Festival Report @ 2:25 pm

Here's a photo of what is taking place on Elmwood Avenue in downtown Buffalo at the moment. A sea of people are currently scoping out a variety of art, performances, and killer food. Everyone is gearing up for the kids parade @ 4:00. There's still plenty of food and fun to be had, and the kid's parade is spectacular. When was the last time that you saw a roaming band leading hundreds of children down the street carrying a huge caterpillar float? Well, today's your chance! Remember, 4:00 on Elmwood. It starts in the parking lot of the new co-op. Don't forget to check out the new Science Spot across the street. It's the Science Museum's latest expansion in the city. The grand opening was yesterday, and the kids were going nuts. Another great weekend to be in the City of Buffalo.

Appendix Out leader, Drag City artist & Will Oldham protege Alasdair Roberts performing "vocals and acoustic guitar in the classicist British Folk vein that all the kids are vibing on these days," along with the fantastic MV and EE Medicine Show, whose appearance at this summer's psych-folk fest was in many minds the weekend's highlight. Effortlessly wedding homespun folksiness with experimental aspirations, the group's set--which blended instrumental ragas, free-folk meditations and straight Americana--perfectly encapsulated the current state of New Weird America. Tracy Morrow's windswept existential folk rounds out the bill.

Monday, August 29, 9pm $7 Drag City's Alasdair Roberts w/ MV & EE Medicine Show & Tracy Morrow. Soundlab (dedicated to the music, media & performance of Bi…
