We will have our second annual Fall Plant Swap on Saturday, October 14, 2006 from 10 am to 12 noon. The event is at the usual location, the southern side of the Rhode Island, Utica and Brayton corner, two blocks west of Richmond Avenue. We expect to have a nice variety of bulbs for sale, and we hope everyone will continue bringing plants from their gardens and taking home new finds at no cost.
Heirloom Tomato Picture & Recipe Competition: We'd like to mark our first sale of organically raised heirloom tomatoes with a picture and recipe competition. Please send us your beautiful photos of your colorful heirlooms! We'd also like to hear from you about any great recipes for summer ripe tomatoes that you may have experimented with.
Any images or recipes submitted to Urban Roots may be used for marketing and publicity. By submitting you are handing over your rights. But you might also see your prize Amish Paste advertising our tomatoes next year!
To submit, send in a digital form to info@urbanroots.org, or bring in hard copy to the Plant Swap. Include your name and contact information. High resolution images may be used to create posters.
Membership: We'll begin collecting memberships at the October Plant Swap. Lifetime Membership/Shares in the Urban Roots Cooperative will be $100 each. More details to come.
Timeline:It is really happening. We will have a concrete Garden Center Store starting in the spring of 2007. More details to come. Check our website at www.urbanroots.org for the latest news.
