Elmwood Village Inn: Honu House

by Anthony Cuellar Jr.

Karen Powell recently invited us over to see what she had done with the Elmwood Village Inn: Honu House. Over the past months she has been renovating and the place looks amazing. After we spent some time chatting in the gorgeous dining and living rooms (these will be common areas for guests staying at the inn) she took us on a tour of the upstairs.

All the rooms are beautifully decorated with unique pieces of art and furniture Karen has found on her travels. The suite is particularly nice: two serene rooms complete with a hot-jetted tub. It is such a great space that even though we live only a few blocks away my girlfriend and I are considering staying here for a night.

There is a small kitchenette upstairs for guests to use, including a refrigerator (a blessing for travelers like us who can't bear to throw out the leftovers of a delicious meal.) Also, Karen just informed me that her "extended stay skylight suite is almost done and spectacular." This space will accommodate anyone looking to stay in Buffalo for longer than a few nights, such as visiting professors and artists, those here on short-term business, and out-of-town friends and family that want a space of their own while they are here.

Rates range from 95$ for the smallest room to $130 for the two-room suite. As someone who has stayed in many inns and b&b's I can attest to the quality of the rooms and think they are very reasonably priced.

I've already recommended the Elmwood Village Inn to guests who will be coming into town so this comes from my heart. Check out the slideshow (coming soon), check out the inn, and let visitors to Buffalo know about this great new addition to the Elmwood Strip. They are sure to have a terrific night.
