Now there are kitchens, then there is the kitchen at the new Amaryllis Restaurant. A couple of us stopped in to have a nightcap the other evening at this unique spot on North before we hit Coda (another unique spot) for dinner. After sampling a couple items from the menu and trying a few of their reds, we decided it was time to hit the road. On our way out, we peaked into the kitchen...
I should really say The Kitchen. As we walked through the door, all conversation stopped as we just stood and looked around in complete amazement. This kitchen never ended. The chefs beckoned us in and we found ourselves wandering through a menagerie of cooking stations, industrial ovens, walk in coolers, and racks for pots and pans.
We had initially been impressed with the dining space. Now we were enamored with the kitchen layout. You see, the kitchen was designed to cater to the folks living at the Westbrook Apartments as well as the surrounding neighborhood. Hence the elaborate kitchen. Now, the commercial space is a chef's dream. Plenty of room to maneuver, with no congestion whatsoever. These guys are pretty lucky. The only unlucky part was actually bringing the kitchen back up to date from the days of Tailgators Restaurant.
