Take A Seat At The VBM

Take A Seat At The VBM

I know that I've posted a lot on the Village Beer Merchants, but every time I go in there I find something new. Today I ran in to grab a sandwich to go... but to my surprise I found that there was a set of tables in the front of the shop. So that takes care of the problem of where to eat just after you've been handed a specialty deli sandwich. It was really nice to sit down at a table while eating a Julienne sandwich... I also learned that coffee is being served - a perfect addition to the meal on this blustery day. Tomorrow marks the first day that the market will start to sell soups.

For those of you who may not have heard, Village Beer Merchants now has a license to sell beer. I checked out the selection earlier and was very impressed with the stock. The owners tell me that they easily have the largest selection of beer in the city and are still waiting to get a couple more lines in. Other than tons of different beer selections, the shelves are filling up even more with gourmet pastas, rice, and specialty baking supplies. Just click here to get a sampling of the other offerings available.

I asked the owners what has surprised them the most about the market since opening and they told me, "The support from people in the suburbs." Huh? It appears that the business has been graciously supported by the neighborhood, and at the same time people are coming into the city to stock up on the offered goods. Now they'll even have a place to sit when they order their lunches.
