I guess it was only a matter of time before Riverside pushed for a farmers' market. It's really another ideal location for one - far enough from the Bidwell Market, yet perfect for enticing walkers and bikers from Riverside and Black Rock. I still have a lot of people ask where Riverside is located. Many people are also unfamiliar with Black Rock. Squaw Island's beautiful park is just starting to land on the radar screens of many Buffalonians. Other nearby destinations include, Viking Lobster Company, Emily's Restaurant, and the Riverview Family Restaurant... all incredibly good places to eat morning, noon and night. Hopefully these local eateries will all get involved with market... this is good news for all.
I guess the real part about the market would be figuring out where to have it in Riverside. There are so many different little (and big) potential locations in and around Riverside Park. The planning is still in its infancy stages... that's why the organizers have set up a blog to learn about what sort of things the community would like to see take shape. How often would you go? What sort of goods would you like to see there? Where would you be coming from? Stuff like that.
