there are so many cool eateries in the city (many of which i have yet to frequent) , i have no idea why i keep heading back to the new kid on the w. chippewa st. block again, and again, and i mean again. papaya asian kitchen and bar (open circa april) has yet to disappoint me and i truly have lost count on how many times i have eaten there in the past 3 weeks- at least 4 lunches and 4 dinners (yes i am single). tri lam, tai truong & manh le have taken the space formerly occupied by shaker lounge and transformed it into a wonderful, modern restaurant which offers $2.00 beers (yummy yummy) and 1/2 price apps on m/t/w (from 4pm-6pm) and serves a late nite menu on th/f/s from 11pm-3am which includes apps and soups. i am on a mission to enjoy everything on the menu (and i am more than 1/2 way there) . i have witnessed a great and eclectic crowd last friday for happy hour and jack, the super nice and helpful bar manager, attested to the fact that the thur/fri/sat bar patronage has been great.
i am not sure if is the exquisite food, decor, or the pretty waitresses, but this kid is hooked on papaya!
