This is the second year that the Historical Society Museum is offering up its special Friday Happy Hour events to the public. There is probably no better scenic view in the city from which to congregate after work and meet up with friends. “The events are offered to engage a younger crowd,” said Betsy Gemerek, who’s last day being Senior Director, Development & Communications was yesterday. “We wanted to introduce a new crowd the Historical Society, while hosting a casual and fun event. It’s a wonderful place to meet up, have a drink, and wind down from the stresses of the week. Last year was our first year and we had 150 people average per party, so it was very successful.”
The events take place between five and eight (dates listed below) and there is food, wine, beer, water etc. served. Expect live music (Gypsy Jazz quartet Babik this Friday) along with the occasional WBFO basket raffle. There are also CDs and merchandise auctioned off during the course of the evening. Exhibits are all open to the attendees - right now the Bon Voyage exhibit is in the main court. It’s an exhibit of travel mementos that belonged to Buffalo travelers from 1830 to 1930. See what was hip to carry (jewelry to weaponry) back in the day. All this kicks off this Friday, May 18th, while experiencing the incredible views, which overlook Mirror Lake and the Japanese Gardens.
