Our Man Michael

Michael Gainer of Buffalo ReUse has just had his profile featured in New York Times Magazine. Just last week my sister called me from Boston and asked whether I was familiar with Michael - it looks as if his business has not just taken off locally, it is gaining recognition outside the area as well. Obviously there are other cities around the country that can learn from our fellow Buffalonians. This morning I happened upon Peter Panepento's blog called Outside Erie and the question arose whether Erie, PA should be looking to host an Erie Homecoming similar to what Buffalo has organized.

It's great to see that more and more of our grassroots organizations are getting recognized for being creative and innovative. These are assets that we should be continually marketing to cities all over the country. People like Harvey Garrett, Julie O'Neill, Michael Gainer, David Torke, Justin Booth, Peg Overdorf, Marilyn Rodgers, Marti Gorman, Aaron Bartley, and Michele Johnson have made a real name for themselves due to their hands-on efforts to create a better Buffalo. So when any one of these (and many more) people get recognized in an outside media sources… it's all good. As BRO commentor 'bison716' likes to say, "Good news! Keep it moving".
