Buffalo continues to receive great publicity through the efforts of the Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau’s communications department. This morning, an article appeared on MSNBC.com proclaiming Buffalo to be one of the top destinations for airfare bargains. The article ranks Buffalo right up there with Denver, Phoenix, Orlando, Seattle and others as cities as great destinations, with terrific airfares.
The article says, “What's the new definition of a must-see? When you can fly there for less than it would cost to drive. Luckily, Buffalo's no bore — particularly not in the busy summer months. A few of our favorite things: the annual garden tours, the region's striking architectural heritage (see: Frank Lloyd Wright; a rich arts and crafts legacy in East Aurora), not to mention the twin summer cultural extravaganzas on either side of the Niagara River — Lewiston's Artpark and Niagara-on-the-Lake's Shaw Festival. Did we mention the amazing summer wines?” To see the full article, visit: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25068151/
The article was the result of the CVB’s on-going national media relations efforts, which attempt to educate and convince members of the media to cover Buffalo’s visitor attractions and amenities. In regard to the MSNBC story, the reporter, who is also the New York Post travel editor, was contacted by the CVB many times over the last year about attractions and happenings in the Buffalo area. After much time and effort the CVB’s work paid off when Buffalo appeared in this morning’s article.
The CVB recently landed two other major media hits, including a cover story in Canadian Automobile Association Magazine www.caamagazine.ca/ (circulation 1.5 million) and The Globe & Mail’s “Dreamscapes” http://dreamscapes.intuidoc.com/Apr08/ magazine (circulation 112,000). These articles have extra importance due to the proximity of the lucrative Canadian market. The Roycroft Inn in East Aurora reported a recent spike in Canadian inquiries after the historic inn was featured in the CAA Magazine and Dreamscapes articles.
