Designer Alfredo H 0/00berli (glass designer) was born in Argentina in 1964, Alfredo H 0/00berli is an internationally established designer, today based in Zurich. In his designs, H 0/00berli manages to unite tradition with innovation, joy and energy. His upbringing in a family of hoteliers and restaurant people inspired and showed him the way in his work with Essence, a new wine glass series. Awards: iF Design Award(Germany 2003), Fennia Prize honorable mention 2003; for the carafe Design Plus 2001 (Germany).
A wine carafe has two functions. It should allow the wine to breathe, in order to release the flavours and bouquet that have been locked inside the wine; and it should let light ignite the ruby-red brilliance of a vintage wine. Designers Citterio and Nguyen have created a mouth-blown decanter with every element reduced to its purest, most essential functional purpose.
