How nice would it be to see these all over the city? They're smart, safe, attractive, and no... I'm not talking about the Rodeo 4X4. I'm talking about the walking-strip that they were laying down in front of the Sidway Building yesterday. Brilliant. Now that there are people living in downtown, the city should start to become more pedestrian (and bike) friendly...
Supposedly this was a big experiment to see how certain testing results would fare. I suppose the results would answer questions like, are they effective and can we afford them? If not, we can all be rest assured that there will be one street in Buffalo (other than in the University District) that will be safe to cross.
Councilman Marc Coppola was on hand to observe the installation process. I asked if we would start seeing more of these crosswalks throughout the city. He told me that he is going to try his hardest to vie for some in his district. Hmmm. I wonder if the rest of the council representatives will be looking into this for their own districts. I certainly hope so.
