Buffalo's Ski Country Gets A Plug

Buffalo's Convention and Visitors Bureau can tear out another great regional clipping that will go a long way to promote living in or visitng Buffalo. If you're a skier or a snowboarder, then chances are that you've made your way to Ellicottville before. Well, that little town on the outskirts of Buffalo recently made a big splash in the NY Times travel section (see article).

The city of Buffalo is very fortunate to have a ski country such as Ellicottville at its doorstep. In the article, it's not just the hills that earned the title "The Ski Town That Aspen Used To Be Like"... the crux of the piece actually focuses on all of the town's amenities (or lack thereof in some cases). Ellicottville certainly has maintained a successful and flourishing economy (both on and off-season), which explains the soaring real estate price tags. Much of the money that is coming into the town can be tracked just by checking out the cars’ license plates - many of which are Canadian.

If Richard Florida is right, and we are to start looking at this region as a Mega Region (see post), then who wouldn't want Ellicottville in their Mega Region?
