Bring Out Your Dead!

Bring Out Your Dead!

If you happened to be one of the people that brought your dead or outdated computer components to the parking lot of the Buffalo Zoo today, then you are probably as amazed as I am regarding the turnout (see info). Cars were backed up as far as the eye could see... and the parking lot resembled that of a drive-in movie theatre. There were people walking to the drop-off with arms full of TVs, printers, hard-drives... even the kids got into it. One father was walking along with a computer monitor while his young son carried an old radio. The entire scene was unreal - especially as the mountain of components climbed into the air and sprawled out over the lot.

I don't know whether to be happy that so many Buffalonians waited for this day to ditch their electronics, or be fearful that there are so many electronics that become outdated so quickly. The longer we waited around, the more cars and people arrived with stuff. If anything I was curious to see if enough people would take advantage of the event. I'm happy to report that this event was wildly successful. Hopefully the 'green' process continues to find these hoards of electronics either good homes or into proper recycling programs.
