While visiting friends in York, Maine, I was introduced to the flagship location of Stonewall Kitchen's chain of retail stores. For years, my friends, originally from Buffalo, would send me packages of these products as birthday and Christmas gifts. Over time I have become addicted to the vast array of mustards, jellies, jams, sauces, oils, dressings, toppings, and new to the product line, Ina Garten's Barefoot Contessa products. I used to have to resort to mail order, but I am pleased to report that these fine products are available in Buffalo now.
Life is hectic and time is of the essence when it comes to getting a fast and easy meal on the table. How nice it would be to pack that meal with as much flavor as possible! Utilizing these products can boost the taste of your meals by seasoning the food before, during or after cooking. There are many sweet and savory products to choose from.
For instance, add a spoonful of the flavorful Roasted Garlic or Honey Tarragon mustards to vinaigrette to help emulsify it and make a creamy, smooth dressing for salads. Or use them on a sandwich as you would any other mustard. Try one of the jams, jellies or preserves as a glaze to brush over grilled chicken or pork as it finishes cooking. How about a grilled bison or venison steak basted with Wild Maine Blueberry 
Jam, or a seared duck breast with Fig and Ginger Jam? Damson Plum Jam marries perfectly to the sauce in an Asian stir fry. After searing a tuna steak, de-glaze the pan with white wine and add a spoonful of Mango Peach Jam for a quick pan sauce. For an inventive taste sensation, replace your usual jelly with one of Stonewall Kitchen’s for a new take on peanut butter and jelly.
Dash’s Market on Hertel Avenue carries a nice assortment of Stonewall Kitchen's jellies, jams preserves, dressings and flavored honeys. I have also purchased some at Premier Gourmet on Delaware Avenue. Not all of the products are offered at these stores, but you will find enough of them to get you started on the road to a world of fast, flavorful and easy cooking.
