Choco Logo celebrated their one-year anniversary in their Broadway retail location earlier this evening. Not only did the business draw a great crowd of devoted chocolate lovers, it also disclosed some recent triumphs that our city should be proud of. Any retailer will tell you that the one-year anniversary is a milestone. It doesn't mean that everything from that point on is smooth sailing... but it does bring a sense of accomplishment to the table that many business owners use as fuel for the following year. I spoke with Choco Logo owner, Dan Johnson (right), about the overall success of his downtown enterprise and he told me this - "The past few weeks have been very exciting for us. We shipped off 750 tins of our chocolates to former President Clinton for his 60th birthday party, and in the same week we had had a write-up in the New York Times."
If those accomplishments don't bode well for a Buffalo business, then maybe the fact that Dan also won a football pool at Bates Jackson Engraving after playing (and losing) for the last twelve years does. As I spoke to him he turned to me and said, "Ya know I feel a chocolate craving coming on." I asked him how often he eats chocolate and he replied, "I usually eat a piece every 15 minutes...". I looked at him to see if he was joking and he clearly was not. And who could blame him? I took a tin of his sea salt chocolate turtles over to the Gang at Le Metro and they just went berserk. Choco Logo Factory Shop hours are Monday through Friday from 10am to 5:30pm and Saturday from 10am to 5pm. 141 Broadway in downtown Buffalo. 716-855-3500.
