This should have a nice economic impact on Buffalo. 3,500 people need to eat, sleep and drink somewhere.

Too bad the picture was taken in at the LA of Anaheim Angels game and not Pilot Field. (I know)

So when does Dunn Tire's naming rights agreement expire? New Era would probably jump at the that opportunity.

A quick count shows between 50-60 teams that will travel to this tournament. That's great for the first year, and it's bound to grow with New Era behind it.

Not long ago New Era was that company down in Derby that always seemed to be on the verge of going overseas. They've improved on many fronts, becoming an important part of the city. Management seems to have made some good calls over the last few years.

While it may seem like a small thing to those who haven't been a part of this kind of competition, every kid in this tournament will have a favorable impression of the city, because they'll have spent an important weekend with family, friends, and teammates. New Era deserves a lot of credit for getting this off the ground.

Let's hope the downtown restaruants and retailers will be OPEN those weekends to service these people. I luv how even after they know we have this many people staying downtown for the weekend and they still wont open for them. What a shame.

I'm sure this is just what Bob Rich and the others that pushed for the building of this ballpark always envisioned, a youth baseball tournament coming there for a weekend! Big deal. A few hundred minivans coming into town for a weekend and its some big financial surplus for the city? Should help a few Red Roof inns in the burbs along with a lucky McDonald's and Dairy Queen in the area.
