Great article! Great news for Buffalo! But hey, let me provide the caption for the beautiful photo: "Erin Grajek, Director of Marketing for the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, shows off the revolving sphere fountain." it is cheap to fly here becouse nobody wants to visit, so of course they offer cheap seats to fill the plans, ever visit a u-haul website to book a truck outa here? To the Carolina's from Buffalo, it is $1,600 one way, from the South to Buffalo it is $600.00. ...pretty much sums it up.

Sorry BGG - it doesn't work that way. The cost of UHaul's to not compare to airlines. The cost of airfare is cheaper flying into and out of HUBS. Smaller cities, which are rarely hubs, tend to have more expensive flights because they have lower volume. The buffalo airport has avoided that by attracting many low-cost airlines here, which also helped lower the cost of major airlines here.

Buffgay - Who want's to visit WNY? Are you even remotelyserious? Can you say Niagara Falls? You know that place that attracts 10 million tourists per year on the US side, and over 20 million a year on the Canadian side. You might have heard of it, it's one of the 7 wonders of the world? Whose closest airport is BNIA.

Sheeesh what a maroon - as BB would say!

300 miles - HUBS are almost always more expensive to fly out of. look at the prices for Cincy, or Charlotte, or Philly. The only time hubs are cheaper is if they are a hub for a low cost airline, such as frontier in Denver or if they are a hub for multiple airlines such as Chicaco. Back when Pittsburgh was a hub for US Air they had the highest airfares in the nation

Nice publicity for Buffalo. I remember a Buffalo News article saying that Buffalo went from being one of the most expensive places to fly in the mid-1990's to being today, one of the top 20 percent cheapest places to fly - thanks to Southwest, Jet Blue and other low-airfare carriers.

The Botanical Gardens is a great place...definitely one of Buffalo's treasures.

Our airports and airfares in the area are such an asset of living here. If cabin fever sets in in February, I have quickly found cheap, around $200 r/t now non-stop flights to get to Florida and Phoenix from Buffalo. I have family in those areas who visit here much more than they used to because of the cheap flights to here.

Also a quick drive, Toronto Pearson can get me to any corner of the globe non-stop anytime. Although sometimes a bit more expensive, the convenience on non-stop international travel from YYZ is always appealing when avoiding delay prone East coast hubs like JFK, ORD and PHL. How long does it take a Long island resident to get to JFK or EWR? A bit off topic but such an underrated asset of residing here.

Its not cheap to fly direct from Buffalo to Washington DC thats for sure. Absoultely ridiculous costs into Dulles or Regan from Buffalo. You want a cheap flight direct into the general region fly Southwest to Baltimore, then of course your in a whole other city even father from where you need to be.

Flyguy try the DC METRO greenbelt express bus from BWI to the greenbelt metro station in Maryland. You can get off of your Southwest flight from Buffalo and be looking at Abe in an hour, get off at Smithsonian or Foggy Bottom. You can also take a quick marc train to union Station I prefer to fly to BWI when going to DC cheap and less hectic of an airport than DCA or IAD, and really easy access to central DC.

But if you do that you can't piss and moan like flyguy in an attempt to say that the article was wrong to praise BNIA for having low air fares!!
