B-O-X, B-O-X
To the BOX to the BOX to the BOX BOX BOX! Whooooooooooo!
I am really surprised that this didn't get more media attention. A lot of Buffalo complains that the city gets a raw deal at everything and yet the Bandits are champions again. I for one am proud to live in Buffalo and am thrilled that the Bandits are the Champs!
People are about as interested in lacrosse as they are in arena football or women's basketball. Unfortunately, this just isn't mainstream enough to really make a difference to Buffalo's collective esteem. Good job though, any championship is quite an accomplishment.
It was a good game considering we won. Although it was rather annoying how every time we got that three goal lead the ref's (like clockwork) decided to start calling penalties again. We had one power play the whole game. Something uheard of in Lacrosse considering you can basically call slash or pushing penalty on every play if you wanted. I guess they just wanted to keep it close.
I went to the second one at the AUD in high school . Holy crap that place was rocking! I was in the oranges and you could feel them move beneath you for quite some time. I also went to the 96 win and the 97 loss to Rochester. It may not be the NHL or NFL, but it is the best Lacross players and very exciting to watch. Until the sabres or bills win something, the NLL (MILL) championships will be some of my best sport memories.
If a guy from buffalo won the nathan's famous hotdog eating contest it would get more publicity that the bandits. sad but true. the reality is that lax isnt mainstream but the fact that they sold every single one of the 18,690 tickets for that game is awesome for the bandits. Im kwasi happy. however a stanley cup or superbowl win would be much much better...
whose house? STEINHAUS!
I disagree about the hotdog/not mainstream comments....kinda.
no it isn't mainstream but its more popular than Arena football considering that our AFL team packed up and left town. And certainly more popular than womens basketball in this neck of the woods.
Lacrosse is actually one of the nations fastest growing sports and the Northeast is a hotbed for the sport. I think Buffalo got in on the ground floor of a good investment for a change and if lacrosse continues to grow we may see the league grow more mainstream. Could I be totally wrong about that? Absolutely!
Either way I happened to be driving through the post game traffic after they won and it was great to see all the fans going nuts. I was at the Conference championship game and it was a blast! Can't wait till next year!
