Take better care of the trees we have, too! The parkway streets are particularly sad — when was the last time trees along, Richmond, Bidwell, Porter (these are just the ones I've noticed for years) got a good grooming? It was well before the Oct storm of 2 years ago that branch shoots at lower levels were in need of trimming. We need better foresting of what we already HAVE — pplease don't leave that out of the equa$ion!

I realize their little letter isn't to be taken seriously, but it shows some stupid brain washing by at least one Nardin teacher:

    5. Stop the use of chemical insecticides and chemical fertilizers

How could a professional teacher not be aware that some insecticides and fertilizers have greatly improved living standards in many places? Stopping insecticides such as DDT has caused many deaths due to Malaria. Any teacher who shoved item 5 into their little brains should be traded away to a public school.

This was strange too but at least funny:

We, the boys and girls of the Second Grade, think you are doing a good job as mayor.

Future BuffaloRising authors! We can only imagine what other cities they'll eventually find real jobs in, from which they can submit long-distance BR articles about great Buffalo's renaissance is progressing in 2028 or so.

wow if this is all it takes to get B. Brown to react those kids should write another letter:

    "Dear Mayor Brown,

We, the boys and girls of the Second Grade, think you are doing a good job as mayor.

We are concerned about our earth. Here are some ideas we would like you to work on:

    1. Reduce corporate and property taxes to spur growth.

    2. Rid the city of unions to cut down on public tax dollar waste.

    3. Implement pay for performance and merit based hiring instead of the buddy system so the best and the brightest are working for us as public servants.

    4. Be bold and take on many old service groups that are a leech to the system and need to go.

    5. Stop using Crayola crayons to sign official documents.

fsda Thank you for listening to our concerns.

    Sincerely yours,

The Second Grade Class of Buffalo"-

the city doesnt even have a forestry dept. the county forestry dept (those based in the garages off the e-way near delaware park) were actually sent out to the burbs following the storm. I hope people are watering these trees (need alot of care first couple yrs) and not ruining the trunk/bark with excessive mulch. PS Byron Brown = Vinyl NewBuilds + Party Gestapo

i sent the mayor an e-mail to address a problem im having with the parking people....im a single father and go to school and work part time, my whole life is currently financial chess. apparently the dmv made a mistake and "forgot" to tell me about the city's request to notify me off parking tickets from years and years ago when i was 18 and irresponsible . Now they decided out the clear blue to suspend my plates until i pay them the entire outrageous 1500 dollars, ha , i have no one to borrow that from , and the way my finance's are , currently , i cant even start saving anything that would even put a dent in that for at least a year , on top of that , im up for a new job that could put me in a free apartment with utilities covered , but i need my own car . talk about queen city irony! I sent the mayor a plea for help resolving the situation , i said i will volunteer , landscape , work for the impact team , anything , just give me some sort of payment schedule or something , i will pay the debt and violunteer . No answer from the mayor , the supervisors , i called and e-mailed every one...... "shows his dedication to answering constituents' pleas--even the non-voters " ............HA!

leadi - Nope, so if you're implying it's none of my business then in a way you're right. Btw, I wasn't intending to slam Nardin - just any 'teacher' who tells 2nd graders they should believe #5 as worded above. It won't do much harm because kids eventually decide themselves what to think, but still #5 is an extremist view that shouldn't be 'taught' in schools. Saying the teacher should be traded to public schools was just a joke obviously.

Dear Mr. Mayor, please clean the crack heads off Elmwood Ave, especially between Utica and Allen.

Thank you for doing your job.

    1. How can the mayor reduce corporate taxes? Those are state/federal, right?

    2. Hasn't the mayor cut property taxes the last two years?

    3. What's an "old service group?"
