It seems nice enough but you can tell by the signage and other visual clues on these and other city retail establishments that there really is not that much money to go around. The signage is pretty much the least expensive yet still presentable quality.
Would you prefer a red neon sign that fills the strip plaza's all over America. The sign is simple, nice and functional. I don't think has anything to do with the income of the success property.

I love this place! It is always the perfect spot to relax. I don't mind reading reviews like this on BRO at all...very often it introduces me to a great new place.

The YUM channel has a handful of dedicated contributors who are asked to write about food-related subjects with a Buffalo connection. For some of them it is about finding a great ingredient and offering our readers a recipe. For others it is an opportunity to explore the city and ferret out the restaurants that have either never appeared on BR, or do so rarely. It may also be of interest to you that, as YUM's editor, I send our contributors a list of story ideas every few months. These are usually things that I think are topical or are people or places that merit attention.
In this particular instance, BR contributor Todd Schoepflin emailed me to tell me that he'd like to write a story featuring his favorite cafe. Since we haven't covered Cafe Allegro in my time with BR (almost two years), I thought that it would be a good post, a nice opportunity for people to find out about a small, locally-owned business. And it is.
It is our goal to highlight what food-related businesses in the City of Buffalo do best. Mr. Schoepflin has done just that. It could be carved, in thicker wood, for example. Or it show some depth of field by having raised lettering. It could incorporate metal like iron or brass. There are a lot of options, but that's fine. Yes, I was hoping for a red neon sign, similar to a wal-mart. You smartly guessed exactly what I meant.

Okay...enough about their signage.
Cafe Allegro is honestly one of the best local cafe's in Buffalo. Its has a diverse and high quality menu of espresso drinks, salads, sandwich's and desserts. They also have live music, poetry and book clubs throughout the week. Plus their free WiFi is also a plus.
As a North Buffalo resident I've been frequent patron of Cafe Allegro's for years now. It's completely mom and pop owned and a great alternative to large, hustle and bustle coffee houses. Plus, it's located on a great block of Hertel.
It's amazing this cafe hasn't been discovered by BRO (and others) sooner..
I dont like the feel of the place. I wish I did because I live near it. I have been in there at least 5 times and have had poor service a few of those times..maybey I will try it again???/
Christa why do you always respond to critical posts with the back handed comment of "if you think you'd like to contribute please email me", as if to insult the poster as lazy and to hail your volunteers as higher than all of us readers?
This is the type of alienation you should avoid. Just my opinion. But everytime I read a lousy half advert and the eventual critical comment of it, I can predict you will be right behind with this type of definsive post of your own.
If you can edit or reject some of the crap you are spoonfed then tough beans. Take your lumps.
