I too am a dog person; a consderate dog person. I don't feel that dogs should be welcomed everywhere and when they are welcomed, I feel strongly that the dog's owner must be aware of the surroundings and insure that the dog's behavior is acceptable. Too often, I've witnessed dog owners totally oblivious to the agressive behavior of their pet; ignoring cleaning up after their dog and that the dog is uncomfortable in crowds - not to mention the number of dog owners that feel that their pet is so well trained that it is permissable for them to be off leash even though there are leash laws. My dog is very much a part of my family and I regret not being able to bring him everywhere with me, however, just as I didn't bring my children to adult functions, I leave Max at home when I am going to 'No dogs allowed" areas.

Of course dogs should be allowed on the waterfront. It is totally sensless that there are all these No's down there. No dogs, No fishing, No skating, No cooking....Why would anyone want to visit when all you can do is buy overpriced food from the Hatch hoping a seagull doesn't crap on your shirt watching the dead fish float around the inner harbor. If it is outside and public then dogs should be allowed to go as well as people...on a leash of course. The dogs not the people :-) The restaurant idea is a little different but if a usiness wants to do it then all the better.
