I find it funny that employees of the City of Buffalo and Erie county make up two of of the IP's that visit the site the most. I'm glad to see my tax dollars are hard at work for these employees to be browsing the web at work....I guess at least they are reading BuffaloRising...

Why does BRO rarely--if ever--have coverage of North Park, Parkside, or South Buffalo?

Could this be viewed as a representation of the Buffalo diaspora--?

BTW, I like how the big WNY dot is large enough to encompass My Fair City - I'm a fan of regionalism :-)

I wonder if you could use this data to add capacity and improve the load time for Buffalo Rising. It doesn't seem like you are able to handle the basic traffic that you get, and god help anyone who tries to post or log-in when you are updating, the site crawls to a debilitating halt.

And so what if a City employee or County employee browses on occassion anyway? As long as its not interfering with their jobs, they are contributing staff members, and have a work ethic so what an occassional surf online? Especially if in this instance they are accessing community matters on Buffalo Risiing and perhaps getting feedback from citizens and peopel who care. maybe some good seeds are being planted via this site that might spur some activity in County Hall, etc.

Oh lord give them a break MEC. Is there an excuse for people to not do their jobs, be lazy and not contribute productively to staff? No there isnt. However, I'm sure there are private sector employees doing the exact same thing. If you arent supporting someone with your tax dollars you are supportring someone elses job when you go and purchase something at Best Buy or your phone company, etc. If you are earning money then a pool of people are supporting you as well. If you look at your tax payment compared to the budget of whatever government body you are paying into i'm sure the amount allocated to that "web browser" is pretty damn tiny. Everyone fills a role in society. Honestly I would hate to see a world where there was no government and "free market" profit driven enterprise was allowed to run everything and every service. When times get rough the private sector bails and goes onto greener pastures while the government body stays put and tries to deal. Just drive down into the Old First Ward or throughout the City and see the decay left behind when the private sector looked out for itself and left everyone with the mess. Thats not to say there isnt abuse and bad decisions coming out of the public sector but just pegging public employees because your tax dollars go to fund their jobs is not fair. Honestly at this point I feel our federal government has abandoned us domestically, our citizens, cities, etc. and helped foster the job losses in this country but so have the private sector companies that abandoned their native shores and people all for green.

do I dare to state the obvious....ok...here I go

you gotta be asking yourself....why arent all these Buffalo corporations, institutions etc joining together for joint projects in areas where they could compliment one another

Do UB and Buffalo State try to have complimentary programs? NO, doubt they even talk to each other

What about shared residences for students, shared small business incubators, shared research centers, additional centers for excellence? Nope....

What about something simple like tree planting? nope...

WE KEEP HEARING ABOUT BUFFALOS FUTURE BUT STILL NO SIGNS OF NETWORKING AND TEAMWORK ANYWHERE IN BUFFALOS LEADERSHIP.

I also find it interesting that the city and county traffic this sight in such high volumes. You have to remeber that the city and county are two of the largest employers in WNY. County #5, City #17. (UB & Kaleida ranked 2 & 3 respectively, with HSBC @ #6.)

I think people in the private sector have a right to be a little upset about that b/c these are the people that (should) play the biggest role in "Buffalo's Rising." Especially when some of those private sector people's tax dollars are paying for plastic surgeries for city employees. By the numbers provided, the City of Buffalo's 3,237 employees are surfing more than HSBC's 5,848 employees, Kaleida's 10,000 employees, and the County's 6,383 employees. And their a runner up only to UB's 10,035 employees. You dont see an issue with that? 3,000 people spend more time on here than 10,000 people!

Yes everyone surfs and browses (I am right now), and I agree that some good can come of the city and county looking to sites such as this to keep their finger on the pulse of the community but why shoouldn't we hold the gov't employees to a little higher standard?

id be interested in taking this analysis down to the phone exchangea within the city. not that i know if it is actually a possibility, but it would be interesting to see where the hits are from within the region.

That Washington D.C. dot is the Hoover Bldg. where a special F.B.I. task force monitors Buffalo Rising 24 hrs. a day. An information has been compiled and indictments are soon to follow. Just a heads up...

sbrof - ask and ye shall receive. we changed the intro image to the google analytics map showing BR visitors dispersed across continental US. The map outline is a bit faded but blame Google for that.
