Again great article about the Market. Almost every time I go there I end up getting some food first then shopping. Also at Person's is a duck blood soup for those interested. Very sweet. Boudain.. duck blood soup?

The Mac and Cheese at the Soul Food Shack is very tasty, but not the cheapest of sides.

Also I find it extremely interesting how the current owner was the daughter of someone who worked there. Going there as a child made the unique connection with a place that obviously has lasted her lifetime and has helped her make the decision to invest into our community. I would be willing to bet that if she went to Applebee’s and McDonald's more often as a child she would be down in Carolina by now.

This is the power of raising children with a local sense of place. I remember going to all sorts of now closed restaurants growing up on the German East side, Wurzburger Hoff, Candy shops, etc. All of them are long gone but I know that if I didn’t have such fond and strong memories of even one of the worse neighborhoods in Buffalo I wouldn’t be here today. These types of things are so important to our future. This is a perfect example of what we need more of in Buffalo. It is a business it is a tradition,

Duck Blood Soup is Czernina (Char-Knee-Na).... Boudain I think is some kind of Sausage Soul Food Dish

We always go to B'way market this time of year, and the one thing that is a must is b'fast a Perisons. A tradition now for my daughter since she can remember. And even though the neighborhood is not as it once was, we love looking at all the wonderful homes, buildings and churches and try to imagine the area in its heyday. Wouldn't it be nice to see a renaissance for the neighborhood!

    One day, I hope.

Boudain sausage is Cajun and not a soul food dish. Typically you would find this in the Acadiana section of Southern Louisiana.

I made the mistake of reading this mouth-watering post on an empty stomach - after seeing these pictures I was seriously ravenous. I'd love to relocate to Buffalo -- my worry is that surrounded by awesome eats like this, I'd happily put on 15 pounds in the first year...
