A lot of great pizza here in Buffalo (for whole pies, have you tried Milano's on Englewood? Or even Di Marco's on Englewood? La Pizza on Hertel?)

For slices either location of La Nova is hard to beat. If you're on W. Ferry, walk down to Russ's Bakery (@ W. Ferry & Grant) after for Buffalo's best donuts or try the sfingi (sp)!!! It's something like a heavy angel food cake make into a round donut type-thing. Heavenly!

I really like this place, Todd. But I have to say, (since you asked) that as much good pizza as Buffalo has, Campieri's on 888 Main is my fav. It's amazing how often we see people log onto this site, go back and find an old story about 888 Main and leave a rave review. That doesn't happen often on YUM, but it seems that people love this place as much as I do. Since it flies under the radar, I think a lot of people feel like it's special, like they discovered it. The menu is small, but the pizza is really out of this world. Look for an upcoming feature in YUM.

Went to Camp's 888 Main for the first time last night... Will be going again very, very soon. (Oh no, not the Great Pizza Debate again?!?)

I agree with the Campieri's fans, 888 Main has great pizza. I like the white pizza with tomatoes and basil. It's so simple and yummy, and he makes a great crust. I've also been to Joe's a few times, and it's really hard to compare the two pizzas. They're totally different styles. Try the white pizza with spinach at Joe's. Very good, monsterous slices with an extra thin crust. Guess it just depends on what you're in the mood for.

I think Romeo and Juliet's has great pizza. They are smaller Italian style pizzas and they are excellent.

Glad to see that space filled.... Suprised Mighty could not make it there

Off the Post - Drove by the corner of Grant and Amherst and saw the building of my mid 90's watering hole, Spanky's torn down. Sad - but progress.

Has Buff State figured out if they are going to house more students off campus? Piece Arrow? Tonawanda St?

Zetti's in the Ghetto Tops Plaza near UB South Campus. Best NY Style I've had from here. The owner is from Queens.

Joe's NY Style is incredible and not just for the pizza - I have been there repeatedly since it opened and have tried their whole menu. All their food is homemade - and there is an extensive lunch and dinner selection that includes eggplant rollantini, veal caprese, cavatelli sole, chicken scarparo I could just go on and on. The white pizza is to die for... and don't forget those little $.25 garlic knots -- yummy!!

Todd, How does this pizza compare to La Hacienda in the Falls not on Hertel? Always looking for a good slice for lunch. Also love the Bio pic with you and Troy. Also lookinf for a good pint any suggestions on Elmwood. They say its the new Hertel.

Back in my Kaisertown days (24+ yrs ago) I often patronized Molino's on Clinton Street and I thought it was one of the best. Anyone know how they are holding up?

Off-topic: What happened to the Cavern Tavern on Grant St.? New York style pizza on Allen Street was a huge hit with my former co-workers. There was a running battle between NY-style and "regular" (read Buffalo) pizza. During my first week, I was asked to take sides - the Regulars were disappointed that I went with the NY style group. Oh well.

I remember going to a brick oven (one of the few in NYC) pizzaria in Bleeker St. I don't know if it's still there or not. They served wafer thin (well, maybe not quite wafer thin but not much more) pizzas which were ordered one per person since they were so thin. I loved it. I'm wondering if any pizzaria in Buffalo makes this kind of pizza.

Joe's has the best NY pizza in Western NY.

Elsofdom, Mr. Goodbar at Elmwood and Forest has about 51 kinds of microbrew on tap and their featured brew goes for $3.

    fill,

You can find that whole-pie-to-yourself, extra-thin, extra-good, Roman-style pizza at Trattoria Aroma on Bryant and Romeo and Juliet's on Hertel.

I am in a different restaurant everyday I can I can say I have tried alot of different local Pizza, Some of my favorites are Blasdell Pizza on Southwestern in Hamburg, Imperial Pizza on Abbott and Santoras Phase II. You know what they all have in common ??? They use San Benito as their sauce.. A little C-store on Two Rod and Clinton Kwik Fill has some of the best pie I have had anywhere. Bocce's has probably one of the worst pies now. Use to be good in the 80's

I was dissapointed enough to call and ask the manager what was up...he supplied a new pizza and wing ,and WE were still dissapointed . I asked re -enforcements for the tasting .The Pizza went into the castiron frying pan and the wings into the broiler . Maybe they still have some kinks to work out(sigh)

Sorry, we tried it a few weeks ago - all ready to jump in and enjoy, the five of us, and were we disappointed! The sauce was reminiscent of Campbells Tomato Soup, the crust bland and the pepperoni was practically raw. In two words - it sucked.

Happy to have Manhattan Pizza on Delaware, though - they rock!
