I was there yesterday as well. It was very nice, and I surely will continue to go there for many staples. One thing I did notice was the lack of any locally produced spaghetti sauces. I dunno maybe it is just me but i stopped buying ragu or prego about 5 years ago especially when there are about 4 brands with usually 3 -4 styles each of local sauces to choose from.

Because I'm interested in seeing the progress and feel that people who will support these types of businesses keep up with the status. We get emails all the time from people asking us 'when' and how is it coming along. To me these are not just one-shot stories, they are ongoing stories. A lot of our readers don't live in Buffalo and have no idea how something is progressing. Like any other form of media, skip it if you're not interested and read it if you are interested. I think that these small businesses need all the coverage that they can get. And they appreciate the support from the people who witnessed the progress up to and after the opening. To me a new market on Elmwood is big news. So is a clothing store downtown. Or a beer merchant. I enjoy covering different aspects of the opening stages. Some people might like that, others might not.
This place looks great, and it puts Wilson Farms to shame. Now, I have heard The Farm maybe renovating some of its stores. I hope they bull-doze the two on Elmwood and start over again with more appropriate building (up to the sidewalk and parking on the side or in back). Congratulations to The Elmwood Market for a great looking build-out.

Look, I understand you're hyper-local and all, but why is there often several articles on a new business; with weeks of "It's coming" articles?
I hope this place lasts forever, however, this bashing of Wilson Farms is getting old. How many stores/markets have come and gone over the years while Wilson Farms has remained? I for one LOVE having a Wilson Farms in my neighborhood. They are a company or at least owned by a company with investors who enjoy profits and return on investment. Just as the owners/investors in the Elmwood Market would like a return on their dime, so too do the owners/investors of WIlson Farms or the parent company. Of course I would love a better looking Wilson Farms but I much prefer a stable business that provides the neighborhood with what it needs. Okay, I'm rambling...GOOD LUCK Elmwood Market!
Stopped in myself, it was a real treat to stop in a clean, well managed deli in Allentown. They have a regular customer in me...Good Luck!
I stopped in around 6:30. Got some cold cuts. They were doing a nice brisk business. Cheers to them. Its clean, bright, friendly. Now just keep it up and you'll have customers as long as their open. Don't fall victim to the lottery and panhandlers.
