sounds delish! :) Anything that promotes a local business to expand and get even more recognition is great for the economy and the city's collective culture. I hate going places and asking locals where we should eat and them pointing out the first Applebees or Benigen's within sight. This sounds like a great venture and I can't wait to try it on my lunch break.

Sounds yummy indeed. Too bad they will only be open four hours a day. Keeping these hours won't rid downtown of it's nighttime Tumbleweed problem.. These hours Didn't work for Edrito's either. Sadly.
I guess it's that chicken/egg story, all over again. "Why go downtown, nothing is open?" vs. "Why open a business downtown, nobody is there?"
Hopefully it's very successful, and with momentum, longer hours will be kept.
Maybe this operation could benefit from the potential "sales tax free zone" being floated around in our State legislature by Assemblyman Hoyt.
I still think the area surrounding the medical CAMPUS (not corridor) is deficient in these types of amenities. It is tragic that the lower floors of the Granite Works are empty and in my opinion represent an attractive venue for such a lunch-time only eatery.

It is tough Hoss, but check out Pearl Street Grille and City Grill down there. They are almost always open. Washington Square too. These places have been slugging it out for 15 plus years.
It will be great to have fresh options downtown but it's sad to see Theo's go to have it happen. They were awesome for breakfast.
Pearl Street Grill at lunchtime is never a good idea. Trust me. If you need to return to work, don't go there. I love it for Happy Hour, though, but have been burned by disappearing servers way too many times to chance it again at lunch. Best wishes to Chop Chop - please have veg food on the menu, too! This is great news. It will do well - look at Globe Market, Fables, the Gourmet Store - all often fast, healthy, innovative menus and are thriving.

What about those who live or work downtown on weekends? Not many options to eat then.
rickyrick, Pearl Street and City Grill are open on Saturdays and Pearl St is open on Sunday on that end of town. Shaghai Reds (crap) is open everyday. Otherwise I guess you need to go in the restaurant biz, don't worry its an easy business to start up.
I ate at Chop Chop for the first time today. I can guarantee that I will NEVER go there again.. Not only were some of the workers rude but the food was TERRIBLE. I got a rice bowl and it tasted like soap. I didn't mind that the price was expensive because I WRONGLY ASSUMED I was getting quality food - until I tasted it.
Globe Market is much better and you actually get what you pay for.
Well, in response to Cowgirl, I went to Chop Chop for the 1st time today. I did not have a rice bowl so can't comment on that but my chop chop add in salad which is actually made to order was very good, you pick 6 things and can add on chicken or shrimp for an extra couple dollars. The chicken was actually grilled to order which is also a plus. Many dressings to choose from. My only negative comment would be they could use more than 1 register as I waited at least 10 minutes after my salad was made to pay for it and many people charge their lunches! Just glad there are a couple new options to choose from downtown as I worked here for over 20 years and have been through all the changes.
