    ;( I was born ten years too late; I wish I could join this man with a venture of my own right now because I completely agree with him on everything. To tell you the truth I was on Main St. today walking around showing my sister downtown for the first time and I was a bit shocked. Having discovered the city only last winter while at Canisius College I had never really seen Main St. during the summer and it is very nice except for the 500 block which has HUGE potential IMHO. I never new Rocco bought the Stewart Benson building, it still has the for sale signs up this afternoon... fill us in buffalorising. I hope he puts in affordable apartments in the $700-$1200 range. This has been a great summer for Buffalo!!!

    Have we missed the headline of the article? The point is he is a pioneer on the block. Give the man some due credit for taking some risk. I don't see anyone else opening up even a similar type store yet.

    IMADIVA, Mike has had at least two female employees at his Elmwood store who were more than happy to get up close and personal with their customers. But maybe he's just a savvy business man. I mean, what better way to ensure repeat customers?

    It would be cool to see more established shops branch out downtown. I would love to see more retail around this Get Dressed shop.

    Everything looks so nice for these 3 months - things are certainly looking much better for downtown, HOWEVER - drive down there in the middle of the winter and it takes on a whole new face. Vacant abandoned buildings everywhere, people nowhere, if it wasn't for the Sabres - it would be a ghost town ....city has a long way to go before we see the critical mass we are looking for -

    Realsitically, we are 20 years out - I guess better late than never

    I agree with BuffedOut. I've never heard anything positive about this guy's business practices or those of his employees. I prefer to give my business to someone with morals and integrity.

    BuffedOut, Hope & Renee...I'm confused...I didn't know that Mike had "employees". I know that his wife Jane works with him at his Elmwood Ave. store...who are the others that you are referring to and what lack of morals and integrity?

    Renee - That's a new one, hadn't heard that before! The one that I had heard the most was that the business was a "front" for something else (apart from what you mention). High profile clients, low inventory, big price tags. Who knows...I never shopped there, couldn't tell you firsthand...but this was just the word on the street back then.
