The Central Terminal Brewery... Oh my love of Beer, the City of Buffalo, and the Terminal

Now if I only had 56 mil to restore the terminal and put my brewery inside of it.

    NBJOHN,

i think that would automatically become one of the coolest breweries in the world. how great would it be if we could get one of the bigger craft breweries out there to move to bflo and inhabit the terminal? it's too big for a startup, but for an already-successful brewery... it may be a pipe dream, but how exciting to envision! they'd have to brew polish-style beers for sure. hey, you never know, maybe if flying bison continues to grow, it could happen!

is there a venture capitalist out there who wants to help us do this?

I went over to the West side the other day to try and find the brewery. After praying that I did not get a flat and dodging a few stray bullets I found it. Thought they had a retail/tap room - nope. Quite a bit of security fencing though

NBJOHN, Flying Bison is right near the Riverside/Tonawanda border. It is an industrial area but I wouldn't consider it dangerous. Although I respect your opinion, I don't want anyone scared off from visiting because of that account. I've never had a hint of a problem there. Also, they do have a retail/tap room- it is located around the back of the building. I was just there last Sunday. Perhaps they weren't open when you visited.

al-alo, thanks for the response. I didn't see it before I replied- that's what I get for leaving a half-finished comment sitting around before posting it! I'm not sure of the days/times either, but you can always give a call before making the trip: 716.873.1557. According to Tim, as long as someone's working in the brewery, it's open (that's at least 4 days a week).

In hindsight, I was probably too harsh on the area. Living on Wellington Road near Hertel (NBJohn - stands for North Buffalo John) I would also love a tap room off of Hertel - Walking distance. Though I really thing Buffalo could use more microbreweries. Redevelop some of the old labels? Just brainstorming....

AuburnAve- Thanks for the input. I'll look into it. al-alo & NBJOHN- a craft brewery/pub/tap room on Hertel seems like a natural fit. It would have it's own niche in the area and further add to the diversity of the neighborhood. I wonder if we'll see the craft brewing industry start to plateau, however. So many new breweries have opened in the past 10 years- it has to slow down at some point. Although a pub in the vein of Pearl St would do well, I wonder about the viability of another company like Flying Bison in our market. That said, I would whole-heartedly support it!

Good news for Beer-fiends: They've upped the number of tokens from 12 to 20!

Considering an after-party? Then consider heaind over to Corpus Christi, 199 Clark St., for their Dozynki, or Polish Harvest Festival- with plenty of Polish Food, Beer & Wine... and hopfully, mead!
