Is anyone else amused by the fact that this "no-brainer" was not picked up by any of our politicians, who are always running on economic development platforms; and not by the people we pay to run out economic development agencies.

Labatt should be a lesson to all of them- stop bickering, stop trying to steal business from nearby townships, and start real economic development by finding the other "no-brainers" that are out there. If they cant at least do that maybe its time to get rid of them and decrease the tax burden on everyone.

Good deal. I heard that there going to be a taste testing bar in the office open to the public is that true? Does anyone know the specs like # of employees? are they transfers from Conn or new local hires? how much office space did they take up?

Andrew, some numbers: Approx. 8500 sq.ft. on the ninth floor of the north Key Center tower. 25 employees. I understand that the 'bar' is for corporate use only.

I'll have a post with some info. on one couple transferred here due to the new HQs online tomorrow.

another photo-op whore....it should be noted that Mayor Brown and the city had absolutely nothing to do with LaBatts deciding to come to Buffalo. It should also be said that the BNE/BNP (Buffalo Niagara Chamber of Commerce) had nothing to do with it either....they didnt even have LaBatts phone number and address on file because it wasnt on their so called focus list....talk about being so myopic and incompetent that you cant see the forest for the trees! LOL!!!!

Yet here we are with all the political whores taking credit for absolutely nothing they had anything to do with!!!!

Browns has had nothing to do with LaBatts or BassPro and has had little backbone with the Senecas...he is proving to be an incompetent unaccomplished lapdog for special interests just like he was when he was in the state senate.....but hey if you want someone not to speak in an embarrassing uneducated and illiterate slur as Masiello did...then Brown can fill that role but Im giving up on his ability to increase jobs and widen as well as diversify the tax base.....the only thing we are going to expect...is the usual rim job for our civil service unions whenever a new dollar flows into city hall!

Anyone else see the irony that one company from another nation, let's call them Company L, earns its profits from something that can easily be harmful and/or addictive, but is given hero status for creating 25 jobs in downtown Buffalo and investing one million here for office refurbishing.

Meanwhile another company from another nation, let's call them Company S, also earns its profits from something that can easily be harmful and/or addictive, but is condemned and treated as criminal outcasts when creating over 1000 jobs in downtown Buffalo and investing over 100 million here for construction. This company will pay 25% of their main product's revenue directly to NY State.

Both companies earn profits from something that can easily be harmful and/or addictive. Both companies direct their profits to non-U.S. nations. Both companies pay a good portion of their revenues to the NY State government.

The company that's creating over 50 times more jobs in downtown Buffalo and investing over 100 times the money here is condemned, while the other company is given hero status by our local elites. Interesting.

Also, from now on every Labatt commerical on TV in the US , at the end will say "Labatt USA, Buffalo, NY" instead of Norwalk CT or where ever they were before

I see the direction you're taking here AtwatLouse, but Labatt Blue can be bought here regardless of whether or not highly paid Labatt execs are in WNY or not. A largescale gambling destination in downtown Buffalo is not here without the Senecas.

Great news, but I really would've loved if he took the opportunity to mention Flying Bison there. "Since I heard the news, Labatt and Flying Bison have been the only beers I've bought..." I know it was a throwaway comment, but I would've enjoyed that.

Lanny, true but there's no blaming or demonizing of Labatt - to the contrary they are being given a red carpet. Which is cool - they are selling a product that many Buffalo people want the freedom to buy and use responsibly, even though it's undeniable some people are irresponsible with it as well and it does some harm.

Part of why Labatt said they moved there was to concentrate on marketing in this areas (i.e., "marketing" = push their product more effectively to more customers here). Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I didn't hear anyone from the elitist nanny community bemoaning the possibility of more beer drinking here as a result of their more effective marketing.

And the Senecas will be locating top high-priced executives in Buffalo as well (more so than Labatts, even since this will be Seneca Gaming Corp HQ), but over and over people keep beating the drum of false claims that the jobs the Senecas are bringing here are the lowest paid jobs in the world.

Just a lot of inconsistencies, but it will all work out in the end. The Labatt marketers here will no doubt be making many trips to the casino for business and pleasure.
