viking........Swedish ??........That's an interesting idea. I'm Swedish. But then, the only thing Swedish I can put together is Grandma's svenska köttbular (Swedish meatballs) so I guess I won't be the one to do that !!! I, for one, would like to see a good German restaurant open. I enjoy going to "Mamma Scharf's" over on Crossman St. but I'd really like having a German restaurant in downtown/Elmwood Village.

well we Buffalonians like to eat, and everyone I talk to that has moved away says one of the things they miss the most is the food. Usually the people second and the snow third if you are keeping tabs. It is in our blood to eat (and drink).

What are we missing... Döner Kebabs!!!! I haven't gone to the new Kebab House on Hertel yet but I have yet to see one of my favorite Turkish foods on this side of the Atlantic.

Don't forget about Ulrich's. The food there is awesome and it's just off Main Street. They also have live music.

The ethnic diversity that Bflo, had enjoyed is re-appearing, usually that comes from independent operators, bringing with their efforts a spirit of vitality. SBROF is correct many people who visit with us comment on the value and variety Bflo. has to offer in food. Also most of those bars which where on every corner offered some kind of food, usually representing the neighborhood they were in. I, for one, would like to see, more Polish, German, Country French, Hungarian, Swedish, etc open.

I agree with both fill I would definitely enjoy another German restaurant in the city especially since it was the cities largest ethnicity for most of its history. We were a very German city: beer, brats, and singing were deep rooted traditions. Hence why our oldest bar is in a German Bar in an old German neighborhood. To bad the rest got displaced and scattered during WWII, when it became unAmerican to be German-American. The only thing that seems to have stuck around is our love of beer and even with that we lost our history of brewing it ourselves.

Stop with all the new restaurants!!!! I've gained 15lbs trying to support everyone. We had a fabulous meal at Scarlet last week ..... I loved their skirt steak and garlic mashed potatoes, wonderful on a cold snowy night, and their calamari. We hope to get to Trattori Aroma this weekend, and back to Stillwater when they have music. Is there a good Chinese restaurant downtown?

Based on what I seek out when I am in other cities, I think Buffalo could use a Creperie as well as a casual place that focuses on healthy eats with vegeterian and vegan options. There is a wonderful chain in Toronto called Fresh by Juice for Life. Fresh has many locations that offer salads, sandwiches, soups, smoothies, etc. My sister and I hit it up whenever we visit TO and talk about how great it would be to bring the franchise to our fair city.

I'm a late-night person and as much as I love the Towne and Kostas, I'd love to see more options for round the clock dining.

The only thing I think Buffalo is missing, and it may just be that I haven't found it, is a good NY style Deli. I know about the place at the Statler (the name escapes me) but something about it's just not right.

Every time I fly downstate for work I have to stop by one for lunch. Roast beef on rye with Russian dressing, lettuce and red onions, peach Snapple and a pickle.
