Polka Carolers will Visit Historic Polonia This Friday!

If you're looking for something fun to do this Friday, we might have stumbled across a goldmine of activities for you. It all starts off with roaming performances by Polka Hall-of-Famer Jerry Darlak and polka musicians - the polka partiers have a list of Eastside neighborhood taverns that they have chosen to play and sing 'traditional Polish Christmas Carols along with contemporary polka holiday favorites'.
The singing of Polish Christmas music called “koledy” is a deeply rooted tradition among Western New York’s Polish American community . The Buffalo Polka Carolers are proud to continue a tradition started over 30 years ago among polka musicians in cities such as Chicago, Milwaukee and Detroit.

If you're in the holiday mood and want to join along as the celebration takes off, the organizers have made it easy to follow the musicians as they travel around spreading their good cheer. As a matter of fact, the festivities get going at 1:30pm and last until 8pm... that's a lot of polka-ing to attend. And it gets better - all the money raised on Friday goes to charity: 'the Buffalo Polka Carolers will be accepting donation on behalf of the Response to Love Center located at St. Adalbert's Parish on Buffalo’s Eastside.'

It's being billed as an Eastside historic event that is not to be missed. This will be a celebration of culture. It will draw friends together to an area steeped in tradition. It's an open invitation to all Buffalonians... to take part in the ongoing festivities. Even if you're not familiar with the venues... especially if you're not familiar with the venues, this is a wonderful opportunity to join a fun-loving group of people as they spread polka-cheer one pub/tavern at a time!

The Buffalo Polka Carolers will be kick off their day of merrymaking at Arty’s Tavern located at 508 Peckham St @ Memorial Drive at 1:30p. Other Polonia landmarks will include the Market Bar, Dick’s Eastside Inn, 222 Gibson and the Adam Mickiewicz Library on Fillmore Ave. The group will be at Ulrich’s Tavern at 674 Ellicott Street at 2:30pm. For more information and for an update of the group’s location, call (716) 316-6415.
