New Year's Celebrations
![]()
Just wanted to check and see if you were planning to write any articles on New Year's Eve in Buffalo. My friends and I would like to go out and enjoy downtown Buffalo, but don't really feel like being locked into one bar. Are any places just 'open' for the evening without $40 and up package deals? -Scott
Each year Joe Cascio gets first class seating when it comes to taking photos of the New Year’s ball drop downtown. Without a doubt the event has come to be one that symbolizes the spirit of the city, and Joe’s photo is mesmerizing. After reading Scott's email we thought that it would be cool to hear what everyone has planned for their New Year’s Eve celebration plans. Are there any venues near the Electric Building that are throwing New Year’s parties? Is Chippewa the place to be because of its proximity? If you have a good lead or two for people who may be coming in from out-of-town, please share them. Here are some of Gab's picks.
Awesome photo!
I was impressed to learn by way of the Buffalo News recently that the ball drop in Buffalo attracts the second largest crowd of any ball drop in the nation. Only NYC is larger.
Having been to many New Year's Eve ball drops in Buffalo, the energy and excitement level in the crowd is fantastic! If you've never done it, come downtown and experience it first hand. Buffalo knows how to do New Years Eve!
A few years ago a friend of mine from NYC came to Buffalo for New Years Eve and he was totally impressed.
Seems that it's always easy to impress the out of town visitors. Buffalo reality overwhelms perception when you come here and do Buffalo live and in person.
I'd suggest looking on www.buffalonycalendar.com . I know that they have a bunch of things listed for New Year's Eve.
I'm changing my plans...I'm coming to Buffalo on New Years eve.
happy holidays everyone!
