Buffalo's Sesquicentennial Billboard Blitz

In response to this morning's post on billboards, Michael Morgulis forwarded this photo of himself lounging around in front of one of his designs. He included a short blurb about the project, which appears to have been a lot bigger than I had originally thought:
Since you asked.... Here is a photo of me lounging in front of the only intact billboard left from the time I did the Billboard Project in 1982, during Buffalo's sesqui-centennial. It is on display, nicely framed, on the first floor of the Tri-Main building. There were 70 billboards in all, displayed for the month of November 1982, all around the city. There are a few more pictures of others on the "Michael" page of my website, www.newbuffalographics.com.
Boy does seeing this bring back memories. Thanks for sharing!
What this article now needs is an accompanying audio file of the old "Talking Proud" song.
Remember that jingle? It was a Chamber of Commerce produced anthem which got its legs when the Buffalo Bills caught fire in 1980 during the Chuck Knox era. Yes, there was a cool fight song at the stadium which predates "Shout"!
"The good lives that we share,
With nice people who care -
It's time to tell 'em all
We're up and standing tall!"
Michael is one of Buffalo's treasures. Nice to see him get some props.
Michael, we're heading into Buffalo's 175th Anniversary Year. Whatcha got up your sleeves? Murals and billboards like the gorgeous art you're seated before would be lovely!
How can the Buffalo Old Home Week (100th Anniversary of this event in 2007) and Revitalize Buffalo crew help make this happen?
