Romance is alive and well in the city

stevewrwrfg.jpg
This guy has been hooking up couples in Buffalo for the last ten years. You can find him sticking his head in and out of the Chippewa District on any given evening, or walking the Elmwood Strip sizing up anyone with a gleam in his or her eye. His name is Steve, and his plan is to hook up lovers all over the city with the freshest flower bouquets that they can handle. "I've helped out a lot of couples over the years," he says. "I’ve saved some marriages and gotten a lot of folks out of some nasty jams. There are even some kids running around the city that might not have been here because I've brought romance to so many people."

One of the things that I found interesting about Steve is that he has come to know a lot of his clientele on a first name basis. "I hit the streets at 9:30 in the morning and there are some business-types that I have come to know. The clubs at night have always been good to me too. When you've been doing this for as long as I have you get to know the city and the people in it. I work six days a week and take Sunday off so I can be with my lady." I asked Steve what the best selling flower was and he answered, "The rose of course. I have long-lasting flowers and that's why I get the repeat customers. I'll even bring someone a plant if they call me and ask." If you want to get hooked up with some flowers (or a plant), give Steve a call (716-316-1793), and he'll do his best to get you what you need.

I first ran into this guy about 8 years ago outside of Spot Coffee on Chippewa St. Cool dude.

I've bought flowers from this guy, too. Do him a favor and tell him to drop the pretext that he's selling flowers to "take the kids to Applebee's." I think it's great that he supports himself with flowers. He doesn't need a charitable front.

Madcap is right! I was duped by this guy around 8 years ago when he said he was selling flowers to support a kids' football team.

Well, maybe he learned a lesson or two. Every time I have run into him he has justed asked if I wanted to buy flowers. Hence the post.

Every time I run into the guy, it's always about helping out some unfortunate kids -- as recent as last week. I agree with Madcap -- just sell flowers for the sake of selling flowers -- nobody likes feeling duped.

He asked me the same thing elmwood regular this past summer. At first, he seems like a homeless guy asking for help, which is why I almost ignored him and kept walking till he mentioned "helping kids". then I simply said "not thanks".
