4 Nov, 2006: Japanese Garden Cleanup

Where: Japanese Garden of Buffalo. Time: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Saturday, Nov 4, 2006
Join us any time Saturday between 9am - 2pm at the Japanese Garden behind the Historical Society and help clear out storm damage. Bring hand tools such as axes and rakes if you have them, but no power tools. We can use all the help we can get, but you don't need to stay the whole time. Don't forget work gloves! Workers from the Olmsted Parks Conservancy will be on hand for the really heavy lifting.
The Buffalo Japanese Garden was originally conceived in 1970 and completed in 1974 as a gesture of friendship between sister cities, Kanazawa, Japan and Buffalo, New York. The Garden was redeveloped and rededicated ten years ago in 1996. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the major renewal of the Garden. -Friends of the Japanese Garden of Buffalo (Photo: John Carocci)
For most Buffalonians a garden is nothing but a property owner that hasnt mowed their lawn or overgrown brush where a house or building once stood where they can go for a walk to buy drugs
For most Buffalonians have never been to the parks or the botanical gardens or science museum or the library.
For most Buffalonians wont even get off their recliner unless their welfare check and food stamps have been deposited.
I lost my job in Buffalo a few years back and have since been in and out of rehab units. I've met most of my friends at drug interventions and I know what its all about. You try rummaging through garbage cans for as many years as I have. Its not fun. The rehab center where I am at now gives me the chance to express how I feel since they have an internet connection.
hahaha, there are two timmy's or one trying to impersonate the other.
hahahha but the second timmy describes the stereotype of poverty, broken dreams, lack of opportunity and empty promises that most Buffalonians have experienced living in WNY. Timmy#1 and Timmy#2 I wish you well.
Antonia, at one point I had it made. Great job, strong family support. Then I started sniffing my girlfriend's paint -she was an artist- and one thing led to the next. The next thing I knew I ended up washing my only shirt where the Erie Canal is now located. They took away the place I washed my shirt. If you rely on washing your clothes in the harbor and that access is taken away from you I am sure that you would be bitter too.

Moderators,
It's getting really clear that we could use the new sign in feature. Where is the new BRO?
Edward, it's a matter of days away.
