  • Posted The Sabres and ECHDC to Buffalo Rising
Everyone's talking about the proposed plans for Canal Side.  Whether its positive or negative, it's obviously a really big deal.  It used to be that a Sabres game or trip to Pearl Street was a rare occasion for most Western New Yorkers to get close to the waterfront.  Thanks to the efforts of the ECHDC, the waterfront attracted 200,000 people this summer through various activities.  And this plan looks to change commerce in downtown Buffalo even further.  Kevin Sylvester headed over to ECHDC headquarters and spoke with Stan Eckstut of Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn Architects and Rep. Brian Higgins to...

  • Posted The Ramsi Tick Concert Series Can't Be Missed to Buffalo Rising
Ramsi Tick loved music since his early days in Buffalo.  In true 'rags-to-riches' fashion, he went from a modest upbringing to spearheading an incredible concert series that you may know nothing about.  "It's one of those 'best kept secrets,'" Peter Angelakos, Ramsi P. Tick Concert Series volunteer told me, "but we don't want it to be a secret."  Tick wanted to offer Buffalo the chance to view world-class musical talent by masterful performers.  After looking for venues, Holy Trinity Church answered the call.  Tick passed away in 1989, but Phil Rehard, Concert Manager at UB, felt that the series was...

  • Posted Sabres Choose Wisely in Easiest Decision in the History of the Sabres to Buffalo Rising
In a decision that drew a sigh of relief from Sabres fans, Darcy Regier announced today that 19-year-old really good hockey player, Tyler Myers, will stay in the NHL.  What's even better, is that it will be with the Sabres!  Myers is +8 through 9 games with the Sabres, adding two goals and three assists, and seeing plenty of ice time.  He's been a staple on the blue line for the Sabres.Playing 10 games in the NHL means losing Junior hockey eligibility, and at 19, Myers would have to play for the Western Hockey League's Kelowna Rockets instead of the Sabres...
