  • Commented on Construction Watch: Cynthia Gardens
Who's to blame? The person driving the wrong way down a one way street. Is this a trick question?...
  • Commented on The LaSalle Park Skate Plaza is underway.
Ahh I forgot about the overpass. I am happy that you've had no problems the several times you've rode your bike on Porter over the overpass. I can't say that I've had the same experiences going over it 5 times...
  • Commented on The LaSalle Park Skate Plaza is underway.
Nice, the only concern is that most people will take Porter to get to it. If they are riding their skate boards or bikes, the overpass and on/off ramps aren't very pedestrian/bike friendly....
  • Commented on Wrecking Buffalo: Public Bridge Authority Wipes Out Busti Properties
So you want to turn Columbus Park into Front Park and Niagara St into Porter while making everyone who lives in that neighborhood unhappy? Also the duty free store is one of the main reasons why someone like you would...
  • Commented on Wrecking Buffalo: Public Bridge Authority Wipes Out Busti Properties
What I never really understood about this entire thing is the PBA claims they need all this space to expand and keep traffic moving while at the same time allotting a good chunk of that space to a duty free...
  • Commented on Walking in a Winter Wonderland: The view from Rochester
Why is it not satisfactory basis based solely around linear foot? So there's no difference of being charged $10 per foot versus $1 per foot as long as it is based around linear footage? I ask again, how do they...
  • Commented on Walking in a Winter Wonderland: The view from Rochester
Reading the article is often helpful but not in this case now is it? My question is pretty straight forward: How do they calculate the bill each year? Clearly more is involved than property frontage....
  • Commented on Grain Elevator Lighting Test, POOL Elevator, Buffalo, NY
Yes, the waterfall was my favorite as well. I am not sure they intended it but with the lake reflecting the light, it really pulled it in and made it seem like the waterfall was flowing into the lake....
  • Commented on Walking in a Winter Wonderland: The view from Rochester
Something really doesn't seem right about all of it. Buffalo and Rochester have the same law in regards to clearing your walk. Rochester has a supplemental service, which they pay for, that every time a storm drops X amount of snow...
  • Commented on BYP Uses Fundraiser Money to Secure Historic East Side Theater
I've read about this building several times since they took ownership of it and every time I do I always end up having more questions than answers. Why did it take so long to board up? They have been fundraising...
  • Commented on Webster Block Plan Advances; Alternative Vision Floated
Why? It's breaking ground in a month, so why now? Just get it over with and write a check to Teilman or whomever he wants you to write a check out to just as ECHDC had to, and get his...
  • Commented on Then and Now: WTF is progress anyway?
Cinder block windows holding you back Steele? Maybe Sinatra can do us all a favor and buy this building and remove the cinder blocks so you can finally move back to Buffalo and stop being the largest hypocrite on the...
  • Commented on Then and Now: WTF is progress anyway?
And yet, the world continues to turn. The buildings future is looking up for once, lets pick nits over paint color. I am fairly certain you are the exact person he is talking about and why he doesn't want to...
  • Commented on Then and Now: WTF is progress anyway?
Well well... we have Sinatra who was in Chicago and came back to Buffalo to invest in buildings and Steele who is in Chicago who writes about investing in buildings in Buffalo. Kinda funny right? It must drive Steele mad...
  • Commented on Know thy neighbor...
How on earth was he able to get this property out of the clutches of D'Youville? And only $10,000......
  • Commented on Common Council Items of Interest January 22, 2013
The industrial building that used to be here is long gone, I think you could view it on the old google streetview. The thought of retail or restaurants on this parcel of land seems comical to me as it is...
  • Commented on My Favorite Buildings: Guercio & Sons gets it!
    Ask yourself why that is....
  • Commented on Madonna's Meets Expectations
"The owners are hoping that this will become a relaxing neighborhood bar and restaurant - a place where the food stands out and the wine list is as much of draw as the smells that waft out the front door....
  • Commented on Madonna's Meets Expectations
They already had one local artist do their mural. I am pretty sure they aren't going to leave it as is. I'm sure they could have gone traditional and "olive gardened" the place up and just as easily threw kitsch...
  • Commented on $15,000 and a dream
Sold in 2008 for $3,000. 400% increase with no visible work accomplished. Well... I'm jealous, kudos....
  • Commented on Making Buffalo Safe for Cyclists - Sign the Bicycle Lane Request Form
Not up onto the sidewalk? The picture reminds me that heading west on Porter towards the water that cyclists are supposed to go up onto the sidewalk after their lane ends no? Why does it end anyway? It shouldn't, everything...
  • Commented on Thinking Inside The Container
I guess I just don't get it. Wouldn't it be cheaper to renovate the two structures rather than demolishing them, hauling them away, and bringing in customized shipping containers? I can see how it's more about a vision than practicality....
  • Commented on Elevator B @ Hive City
Freezing during the winter seems like a greater risk than over heating during the summer....
  • Commented on Preservation Ready: Bethlehem Vigil - Overnight!
I wonder what next months "must save" building will be. It's a fun game, try it....
  • Commented on Elmwood Village Fabrics Finds 'Fab-ulous' on Franklin
There are about 10 parking lots fronting this stretch of Franklin between Allen and North. Other than that there are more businesses than residential buildings located here. That includes the abandoned building and the crack den next to it. I...
  • Commented on Beehive Yourself
There always seem to be a lot of confusion about bees and bee keeping. I can't tell you how many people get stung by a yellow jacket and say "I just got stung by a bee!" No, you have been...
  • Commented on A Final Goodbye to the Marlowe Theater
I am glad to see this one go. No one was going to pick this one up. So the outer layer of bricks was cosmetic, so what? It needed to be gutted, a new roof, the outer layer of bricks...
  • Commented on New Tavern To Open On Allen Street
Dave Forness, repeat tax cheat who drives businesses into the ground then dumps them. Curious, that a man on probation was able to bypass the rigorous state liquor requirements to get a full bar. Wonder who he suckered into getting...
  • Commented on Preservation Award Winner: Hiram Day Mansion
I am not really convinced that just because a house was turned into boarding that it was the saving grace. Hell a boarding house can have a negative influence on surrounding houses just as easily causing them to become abandoned...
  • Commented on Franklin My Dear...
They moved down the street to 531 Franklin... duh....
