Sure do. :) Those bumper stickers were made by a company called "Real". They were in response to skateboarders being pursued by police. Police chased us because we were trespassing. We trespassed because there were no other viable options. Ultimately, I think the sticker was aimed at getting skateboarding accepted as a sport. Most other sports have public spaces; for example tennis courts, soccer fields, football fields, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, tracks, hockey rinks, and on and on. You'll hear some people talk about the insurance risk of a skatepark...but I can't imagine too many sports more dangerous than football...

Dont get me wrong...we need to spend money on activities for our youth! but prime waterfront parkland is NOT the place to do it. ChristieLou, it's clear how much you care about Buffalo's youth. I couldn't agree more with you. Why give the local youth prime waterfront property when there are so many brownfields that could be used for nothing? Why isn't the Mayor giving you the money to build your Grover Cleveland museum? Wow, paulsobo ideas would be even worse city spending than for a skate park - statues, Pan Am fountains, replica ships - crazy wastes. New museums & community centers when we already have many of both and often need to reduce operational funding of them. How about real public capital spending needs like more street paving, crime cameras, snow plows, sidewalk repair, or jail cells to keep violent repeat offenders locked up for longer? That said, this $250k doesn't seem as dumb as some recent uses of city $. At least it's for something publicly owned, unlike for instance $500k...

I am all for capital spending: new roads (particularly value added brick or cobblestone for historical districts), new sewars, new water mains, new LED Lighting (particularly higher end lighting for historical districts), new curbs, new sidewalks....snow plowing, street sweeping, park maintenance, etc. However, a skatepark doesnt fall into that category. Its falls into entertainment...the best value entertainment is one that both serves the community and serves vistors while increasing a positive brand name recognition of our city History, sports, parks, culture...meet that criteria As far as PaulBuffalo...well if a Cleveland, McKinley & Filmore museum is such a failure then why...
