Falling short, again.
stephenjames716
There weren't too many people giving the Bills any chance to win this week against the undefeated Colts. I myself was not expecting a win so that if we did end up making it a game it would make things all that much better. Well, we did end up making it a game, but fell just short.
Our offense was completely shut down this week, with the exception of Anthony Thomas who rumbled over the Colts to another career day. J.P. continues to look like a deer in headlights both on and off the field. This is the second week in a row that he has failed to crack the century mark passing the football. If you want to win in the NFL you usually have to throw for over a hundred yards, and a touchdown doesn't hurt either.
It seems that our Defense and Special Teams understands that it takes more than field goals to win games. Terrance M…

Turns out the Sabres come from ahead pretty well, too.
Despite various maladies that kept Ryan Miller, Maxim Afinogenov, Henrik Tallinder and Toni Lydman off the ice in Philadelphia, the Sabres took a 3-1 lead almost eight minutes into the second period on rookie Drew Stafford,Aeos first National Hockey League goal.
All the injuries seemed to kick in from there, as the Flyers scored three straight, with the last coming off a Stafford giveaway. To compound his flub, he watched as Randy Robitaille netted his second of the night for Philly, giving the league,Aeos worst team a 4-3 lead with less than nine minutes to play.
For most past Sabres teams, particularly those of fairly recent vintage, ceding control of a game that seemed well in hand woul…

UNEDUCATED GUESS: Long Day Ahead in Indy
Dave Staba
On more than one occasion this year, announcers on broadcasts of football games involving the Buffalo Bills have discussed Willis McGahee's offseason training regimen.
Specifically, they've made note of McGahee's decision to shun a weight-lifting regimen designed to strengthen his upper body. Instead, they explain, he largely limited his spring and summer workouts to the treadmill.
This is troubling in a couple of ways.
First, anyone who has spent any time in a gym has seen people come in, get on the treadmill at low speed and non-existent elevation for long enough to barely break a sweat, enabling them to tell their…

Silverbacks Say Thank You - With FREE GAME
Anna Miller
The Buffalo Silverbacks open their season tomorrow night against the Detroit Panthers at Buffalo State Sports Arena. And to honor community leaders for their response to the October storm, the game will be FREE to anyone interested in attending, thanks to team sponsor Creditors Interchange.
,AeuWe wanted to honor the mayor for the wonderful job he's been doing, particularly during the storm cleanup,,Aeu said Modie Cox, the Silverbacks' assistant coach, guard and community outreach coordinator. The game will be a salute to Mayor Byron Brown and the first responders who worked tirelessly in the weeks following the storm to return normalcy to the city.

Coming off their bye week for the season it was anyone's guess as to which team would show up for the Bills on Sunday. Would it be the team that plays smart, with no mistakes? Or the one that shoots itself in the foot constantly and can't convert when they need to? It turned out to be a bit of both as our defense played stupendous while our offense was slow to get anything going.
An early injury to Willis McGahee left me worried, but the A-Train (Anthony Thomas) came in to play well for the Bills. However, there weren't many highlights on the offensive side of the ball today. The shakeup on the offensive line during the week by Coach Jauron didn't lead to much success and you could see the frustration in J.P.'s eyes as he ca…

When Buffalo hosts Green Bay on Sunday afternoon, it seems like you should be able to have some idea of what to expect from the home team.
After all, this week marks the halfway point of the Bills' 2006 schedule. Even the slightest hint of consistency wouldn't be all that much to expect.
But which J.P. Losman will appear? The acceptably raw young quarterback who steadily improved during the first month and peaked in the win over Minnesota? Or the completely lost-looking novice who bumbled his way through three straight losses before the bye?

Things are going so well for the Buffalo Sabres that the continued absence of one of their most talented playmakers gets more notice for its salary-cap implications than its on-ice impact.
Real-world oncern over Tim Connolly,Aeos health remains one of the only blots on an otherwise shiny start to the 2006-07 NHL season in these parts. And the hockey world continues to take notice.
Even after the Sabres,Aeo first loss, in a shootout to Atlanta last Saturday, the gushing continued.

With Buffalo,Aeos unbeaten hockey team going after the National Hockey League record for most consecutive wins to start a season tonight when the Atlanta Thrashers visit a sold-out HSBC Arena (a phrase rendered redundant for the rest of the 2006-07 season by frantic ticket sales), the hype from the national sports media continues to grow.

It's Unanimous -- Buffalo's No. 1
Dave Staba
Not to plant a seed of doubt as the Buffalo Sabres try to tie the National Hockey League,Aeos record for consecutive wins at the start a season tonight on Long Island, but this week's survey of power rankings raise a previously unfathomable question:
Might they be getting too much love?
Then again, maybe that's just the knee-jerk reaction of a innate cynic. Everyone else should enjoy it. While it lasts.

Just 73 To Go
Dave Staba
Sunday and Monday might have been the greatest consecutive October days in the history of Buffalo hockey.
In Montreal, the Sabres won their ninth straight game, setting a franchise record and pulling within one victory of the National Hockey League standard of 10 in a row to start a season, set by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1993-94. All they have to do is keep it up for another 73 games, and they,Aeoll be the NHL,Aeos first-ever unbeaten team.
And in Philadelphia, Bobby Clarke is finally unemployed.
