HarborCenter features a Marriott Hotel, two full-size NHL ice rinks, a Tim Hortons, (716) Food and Sport, Healthy Scratch, and a five-level, 750-space parking structure. Marrano Homes is adding a ranch plan to its offerings in the Colvin Estates subdivision in North Buffalo.  The region’s largest homebuilder is working on adding 69 lots to the subdivision, extending Rachel Vincent Way to Starin Avenue.  Access to St. Lawrence Avenue is planned with a three-way stop where the road connection intersects with Rachel Vincent Way. Homebuyers have moved into the 34 homes Marrano constructed in the second phase of Colvin Estates.  Sales prices ranged from $327,100 to $526,926.  Five two-story plans were available with three or four bedrooms and 1,800 to 2,500 sq.ft. of living space. – Originally Published on July 13, 2015 – The Statler has come a very long way in a short period of time.  While the upper floors remain vacant, “drywall-ready” and poised for redevelopment, this grand historic building is still standing, which is a victory in itself since the building was threatened with demolition just five short years ago. The NFTA is seeking proposals from developers interested in creating residential, retail, office or other commercial uses in the DL&W Station at the foot of Main Street.  The second floor and a small portion of the first floor are available for development.  Proposals are due February 19. DL&W’s second floor includes 74,875 sq.ft. of unfinished indoor space and 57,662 sq.ft. of outdoor deck space that overlooks the Buffalo River and Canalside.  Approximately 6,500 sq.ft. of space on the first floor adjacent to a planned rail station platform will also be available for development. Free light rail rides on downtown’s above ground section could be derailed thanks to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority’s budget mess. That is the news coming out of a Buffalo Place meeting this morning. Facing a budget shortfall and reduced State operating assistance, the NFTA is scrambling for new revenue sources and is contemplating charging for rides along the lengthy downtown pedestrian mall.

Ellicott Development is renovating a vacant, three-story, turn-of-the- 20th-century building at 1010 Main St. The property is located near North Street and is along the western edge of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. A stunning conversion project in the Midtown area is for sale. Gurney Becker & Bourne is listing 1716 Main Street, a mixed-use property profiled previously on Buffalo Rising here and here. The site consists of two separate buildings. The two-story building fronting Main was constructed during the Pan-American Expo period, which includes 3,210 sq.ft. of street retail and a 4,200 sq.ft. second floor loft residence. The rear building was built thirty years later in 1930 and currently serves as an architectural workshop.

Downtown enthusiasts and pessimists are focused on the Inner Harbor as Benderson Development with a dollop of taxpayer money is driving the Canal Side project forward. Two blocks to the east of Main Street, the transformation of the area around HSBC Arena is already underway. Meals on Wheels for Western New York, Inc., (MOW) facing the immediate challenge of raising $67,500 to cover the costs of providing 25,000 additional meals to elderly and special needs recipients in December, is conducting an appeal to raise those dollars. The agency budgeted for 840,000 meals this year, but troubling economic conditions and an ever-growing demand have raised that number to 865,000. In 2008, MOW also experienced a 12 percent increase in the cost of meals.
