Buffalo Challenge: The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation Asks for Your Support
The ongoing salvation and restoration of Buffalo's magnificent New York Central Terminal has to be one of the most uplifting stories in Buffalo history. The terminal is still in rough condition but the efforts of a rag tag band of volunteers came together is a true grass roots effort to save a precious piece of WNY heritage, and step by step they have shown that anything can be accomplished with perseverance and determination and of course money.  Following is the Central Terminal Restoration Corps case, per Anthony Bylewski, as to why you should vote for them to receive the $10,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation to be given in the "Buffalo Challenge".

Buffalo Challenge: TR Says Vote for Me!
I asked each of the 4 preservation organizations involved in the National Trust for Preservation "Buffalo Challenge" to write in and make a case for themselves and state why they should get the $10,000 award.  The first (and only so far) to respond was the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site.  Here is their compelling case for voting for Teddy:
If the TR Site is the winning entry, it will use the award to support school visits for underprivileged youngsters from districts in need.  The award will enable the Site to provide TR Site

Wisconsin Road Trip: Who Really Pays for Roads?
A recent report by a group called 1000 Friends of Wisconsin shows that roads in that state are not fully paid by fuel taxes and other road user fees.  The report blows a giant whole in the claim by pro sprawl lobbyists (at least in Wisconsin) that roads are fully funded with road taxes paid by road users through tolls, gas taxes and other road use fees.  In truth it seems that the life line of sprawl, more and more roads,  is one of our biggest government subsidies.  Following is a summary of the report's

National Trust to Play Santa in Buffalo
The National Trust for Historic Preservation is coming back to Buffalo with a bag of cash for one local historic preservation organization and the public can help choose who gets it. The bag will be filled with a $10,000 grant for one of 4 projects selected for a an online voting competition.
