Buffalo Irish Festival Moving to the Statler Hotel
Just in time for its 30th anniversary, the Buffalo Irish Festival has found a new home at the Statler Hotel.

The festival was first held in 1982 at Weimer's Grove in Lancaster as a celebration of Irish heritage and the history of the Irish community in Buffalo.  After spending 20 consecutive years in Lancaster, the festival was moved to the festival grounds at the pier on the city's Outer Harbor. In 2005, organizers had to relocate once again when "big things" were slated to start developing at the harbor, so the festival headed to the Hamburg Fairgrounds from 2006-2010.  After struggling with high facility costs, poor sound quality and loss of interest due to the longer drive out to Hamburg, the organizers went on the search again for a new venue.  They approached the new owner of the Statler Hotel, Mark Croce, who welcomed the festival as the hotel's first big event this year.

Parkside Community To Host 13th Annual Tour of Homes
North Buffalo has finally started blooming just in time for the Parkside Community Association's 13th annual tour of homes.

This tour takes guests on a trip throughout the residential area bordering the Buffalo Zoo and Frederick Law Olmsted's Delaware Park.  This year, 10 homes will be showcased, along with two local churches.  The tour will start at the Church of the Good Shepherd on the corner of Jewett Parkway and Summit Avenue.  It will continue through the neighborhood homes and will even include a look into the Darwin Martin House Complex.  Visitors will be

Pirates are coming to Allentown!
The Theatre of Youth will be bringing a band of pirates to Allentown to celebrate the opening of "How I Became A Pirate" on Friday, May 13 at 7 p.m.  The play will also be shown during matinee performances at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through May 22.
 
There will be a special brunch held at the Quaker Bonnet Eatery on Sunday, May 15 for families to meet the cast of the show.  The brunch will feature a pirate-themed menu of Pirate Pancakes, Scallywag Scramble, Plank Potatoes, Shipshape Salad, Sandy-wich, Grog (green orange

Preservation Board Recognizes Six Historic Properties
With the National Preservation Conference coming this fall, the timing couldn't be better to add six properties in both Erie and Niagara Counties to the National Register of Historic Places. The six locations described below have been given the seal of approval by the State Review Board and the State's commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.  It is expected that the Keeper of the National Register will give them the go ahead in the beginning of June.
