City and NIagara U Team Up for CERT Training
The City of Buffalo is looking for a few good men, and women, and young adults too.
The City is partnering with Border Community Service at Niagara University to develop a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to assist emergency service personnel in the event of a major disaster here.
The free training program prepares you to help yourself, your family, and neighbors in the event of such an emergency. Pre-registration is required and will continue until January 29th. Participants must be at least 16 years of age and must attend all nine training sessions.
The first of the nine sessions begins on Wednesday, February 3rd, and runs through March 31st. Classes will be held from 6 to 9PM at the Buffalo Fire Department Hall adjacent to Engine 2, at the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Virginia Streets.

GiGi’s Soul Food
I've been meaning to get to GiGi's on the East Side for quite some time, but I don't find myself in the neighborhood often. However, on my way to the Museum of Science on Martin Luther King Day, I finally got the chance to experience a Buffalo soul food institution that's been around since 1960.
Occupying the corner of East Ferry and Jefferson Avenue, GiGi's offers up amazing home style southern cuisine with a unique African-American flair, in a hospitable diner setting.
