The Sabres and ECHDC
Everyone's talking about the proposed plans for Canal Side.  Whether its positive or negative, it's obviously a really big deal.

It used to be that a Sabres game or trip to Pearl Street was a rare occasion for most Western New Yorkers to get close to the waterfront.  Thanks to the efforts of the ECHDC, the waterfront attracted 200,000 people this summer through various activities.  And this plan looks to change commerce in downtown Buffalo even further.

Kevin Sylvester headed over to ECHDC headquarters and spoke with Stan Eckstut of Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn Architects and Rep. Brian Higgins to learn more about the proposed design.

The Ramsi Tick Concert Series Can’t Be Missed
Ramsi Tick loved music since his early days in Buffalo.  In true 'rags-to-riches' fashion, he went from a modest upbringing to spearheading an incredible concert series that you may know nothing about.

"It's one of those 'best kept secrets,'" Peter Angelakos, Ramsi P. Tick Concert Series volunteer told me, "but we don't want it to be a secret."

Tick wanted to offer Buffalo the chance to view world-class musical talent by masterful performers.  After looking for venues,

Rob’s Grog is Perfect for Having Fun and Helping Out
It started as a fun holiday concoction.  Rob Lederman, local radio personality at 97 Rock and stand-up comedian, gathered various alcohols, a clean garbage can, and special ingredients to build his famous drink (in his garage).  He made 144 bottles a year.

"I would bring a bottle to a party and end up having to go home to get more," he told me.  "People love it."

It's not egg nog; there are no egg products in it.  But it does contain plenty of scotch, rum, brandy, Canadian Club, Southern Comfort, and vodka, with a few of Rob's own special ingredients.

The Ice Ball for a Classy New Year’s
The Ice Ball started last year when Steve Poland wanted to do something fun with friends.

"I thought 'Buffalo doesn't have anything like this,'" he said.

The original plan was for 20 friends to ring in 2009 at Delaware Park's Marcy Casino.  That number turned into 50, and that number exploded to 500.

"I was completely sold out three weeks before New Year's, and people were calling, begging for tickets.  I couldn't just create more room

Unique Buffalo Business: Keystone Film Productions
You would have no idea it's even there.  But located inside of the unassuming building, that stands devoid of identifying signage at 825 Main Street, is a studio whose work can be found all over the city; from restaurants, to sports arenas, to vehicles, to the very ground.

Keystone Film Productions joined forces with NetW Imagery around 12 years ago, and the two have been in that Main Street building for over 10 years.  During that time, they've produced work for the Sabres, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Burchfield-Penney, the Niagara
