A Circle of Influence: Teacher and Students Reunited In Indigo Art Gallery’s Newest Exhibit
By Amanda McLaughlin:

Indigo Art Gallery is pleased to announce its newest exhibition, A Circle of Influence, featuring recent work by Nancy Belfer, Linda Collignon, Barbara Murak, Gerald Mead, Ruth Butler, Ginny Lohr, Mary Treig, Georgia Trimper, Bruce Adams, and Leslie Zemsky.   Nancy Belfer is a Professor Emeritus of Design at SUNY Buffalo State College, and the nine additional artists included in the exhibition are a sampling of the many artists Belfer has inspired during her years of teaching.  The relationship between student and teacher is an inspiring and lasting one--perhaps never more obvious than in the creative arts field, where creativity is not taught by teachers, but rather, cultivated; students are encouraged to explore and grow as artists.  As Indigo Art Gallery says in a statement:  "A teacher's purpose is not to create students in his or her own image, but rather to develop students who can create in their own image."

Big Fat Bikeride for The Arts
By Dave Harter - Program Coordinator Green Options Buffalo:

In the past year I have heard precisely two people say that they came to Buffalo seeking work outside of the arts. Admittedly, that number only rises to about five people I've met relocating for work in the arts but, when asking people why they stay here in Buffalo, the answer is always one of three things: "I have friends here," "last call is 4 am," and - the most popular response - "the arts."
