The New York Council for the Humanities presents “Reading Between the Lines”, a book discussion program for New Yorkers presented at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society. Moderated by Mr. Shane Butterfield, a University of Rochester graduate student tin history, the group is centered around New York State’s importance in the 19th Century American frontier. This free program provides participants with four books and allows them to attend four discussion sessions. When the series is complete, the books are returned to the Society.

The current program is entitled: The First Frontier: New York State and the American Expansion, 1775-1890.” The first session will cover The Battle for New York: The City at the Heart of the American Revolution, by Barnet Schecter. There are a limited number of slots remaining, so please call Kathleen at 716-873-9644 extension 317 or email her at programs@bechs.org soon for more information.
