Speaking of Gallery Walks, this week's Gusto at the Gallery is bursting with special events from som eof Buffalo's finest performers! Beginning at 5 PM - 7 PM, there is an art activity with David Kane and Nimbus Dance involving mobiles. At 6 PM, join Curator of Education Mariann Smith for the week's lecture, an engaging look at pop artist Claes Oldenburg.

At 7 PM, there wil be a performance by Numbus Dance entitled Windows. Eight window frames will be suspended in space. Dancers Beth Elkins, Jennifer Golonka, Kerry Ring, and others will tell the audience a story from the perspective of their own persinal window on the world. The minimalist setting will be costructed and installed by Brad Wales and the UB student Small Built Works Project.

At 8 PM, there will be a special poetry reading by Ron Padgett in conjunction with a show at the UB Art Gallery for his friend, the artist Joe Brainard, entitled People of the World, Relax! Ron Padgett, Kenward Elmslie, and artist Joe Brainard were part of a social, artistic, and literary circle known as the New York School of Poets, which included artists such as Jasper Johns, Larry Rivers, Andy Warhol, and many others. A book-signing will follow.

Also at 8 PM, there is a two-hour performance with local attitude merchants the David Kane Quartet, whose revaped structure includes not ony drums, bass guitar and keyboards, but samplers, drum loops, and my personal favorite, the theremin.

Albright-Knox Art Gallery, 1285 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, 14222, 716.882.8700. Free. Events run from 5 PM - 10 PM.
