Meet Henri Matisse, a man who wanted his work to be comforting and restful, but was called a "wild beast" by French critics who found his colors disturbing and jarring. Matisse's use of vivid color to express his feelings about the world would have a lasting impact of the art of the 20th century. Join Curator of Education, Mariann Smith, for her monthly Birthday Lecture Series and learn all about Matisse's life and art. (Auditorium)

Enter the New Year with style and join us for our Gala at the Gallery. Dance the night away with the Ladies First Jazz Combo, an all-female quintet, which are acclaimed as one of the finest groups amongst Buffalo's Jazz community. (Clifton Hall)
